History
a little about myself
I currently work as the Maternal and Child Health Consultant for Kaiser Permanente’s Southern California region. I help doctors and nurses better serve their women and children by lowering the C-section rate, supporting breastfeeding, and making care culturally sensitive.
I hold a Master of Public Health degree from UCLA. As an undergrad I studied French and Anthropology, which led me to work with midwives in North Africa. I also spent several glitzy years working in jewelry and textile design before returning to the world of public health.
I come from a long line of strong, sensitive ladies. My goal is to promote midwifery as a tool to nurture health and well-being for women throughout the life course, especially those with limited access to quality care.
I hail from the mountains of Colorado, but have lived and loved in Oregon, Morocco, and New York, too. I'm in Los Angeles for the foreseeable future, however I work with the midwives of the Navajo Nation in Fort Defiance, AZ.
I enjoy a good cup of coffee, Fleetwood Mac, fancy school supplies, and figuring people out.
